MANILA, PHILIPPINES—For the first time in Philippine history, the Philippine Association of Professional Speakers, Inc. (PAPS) is organizing Keynote 2017: Jumpstart on July 26 at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati City. The event is set to accommodate at least 150 speaking professionals from various fields of expertise.
The one-day program includes a keynote by World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and veteran communicator Karen Davila, four panel sessions that tackle launching a speaking career, benchmarking, mentoring and building a community.
“As an important profession, speaking professionals must have a community where they can learn together and empower each other. By sharing our stories to each one, we expect to learn and grow together. And when we become better speakers, we can serve our clients even better,” says Lloyd Luna, PAPS founding president.
Carlos ‘Pido’ Aguilar, Jr., PAPS chairman of the board, said: “There is great power when those who can speak will speak out in areas of common interest such as upgrading skills, sharing talents, expanding opportunities and becoming world-class. The speakers guild, through KN2017, hopes to establish, enkindle and energize this affinity among speakers.”
“If your calling is public speaking be with us. Let’s unite because this event will recognize our profession and our singular voice as an industry,” says event chairman Jessi Rebustillo.
PAPS, the first organization for speaking professionals in the country, is committed to uphold the holistic development of professional speakers. It sees itself as the Philippine’s premier hub of speaking professionals by 2020.
